My neck is always hurting. On top of that sometimes I can't turn good.
If this is the case you have to look at what you're doing everyday. Are there certain activities that are irritating your neck? Does it feel better at times?
I know for me I was spending too much time on the computer. No matter how perfect your posture is, your neck gets fatigued. After too long that head goes forward (forward head posture). Do this day after day and your body takes on that posture.
So here's what to do - and this applies to someone like me, who was spending too much time glued to the computer or someone with neck pain that presents itself first thing in the morning.
1. Take regular breaks, for me it was just getting up a couple times.
2. Periodic stretching - dynamic and sustained.
3. Eliminate any major causes. This can be things like always holding the phone on the left ear, carrying a heavy bag on the right shoulder, etc...
4. Work to improve your posture.
Flash ahead to the future, maybe your on the computer for hours but what about the tablet or phone. If this isn't your future already I'm sure it will be. My 2 1/2 year old already uses the iPad like a pro. Then there's the phone - they actually made bigger screens now probably for easier internet searching and texting...
Even I am guilty of texting nowadays (I never really thought it would happen). Even when my wife and I are sitting down watching tv, I know there have been times where either one of us has our phone right next to us so we can get it easier.
I'm not just referring to that phone call but a picture or a text, or an email we might get. Technology is great, I love it, but we have to take care of our bodies. If we don't at least care for our necks we won't be using that phone or tablet very long and that neck pain will still remain constant...
